2024 Lia Cares 

 

Albany Patroons 

The Albany Patroons are a professional basketball team that plays in The Basketball League (TBL). Previously, the team competed in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) and in the United States Basketball League (USBL). The Patroons won CBA championships in 1984 and 1988 as well as a TBL championship in 2019. The team's name derives from patroon, the term for a large landholder in New Netherland, the Dutch colony that once included the Albany region. Lia is a proud sponsor this year of the Patroons with a $2,500 sponsorship. 

 

Alzheimer's Association  

The Alzheimer's Association leads the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support. They are the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research with the vision of a world without Alzheimer's and all other dementia. Lia once again is sponsoring the Evening to end Alzheimer's Gala at the Silver ($5,000) sponsor level. 

 

American Cancer Society 

ACS is a leading cancer-fighting organization with a vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone. They are improving the lives of people with cancer and their families as the only organization combating cancer through advocacy, research, and patient support, to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer. 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Lia has been a dedicated corporate sponsor over the years and this year we will donate $45,000 to the cause, sponsoring the Gala of Hope, the Red, White, and Blue party, and Coaches vs Cancer basket ”ball”. 

 

American Red Cross 

The American Red Cross is one of the largest providers of blood products to hospitals in New York State. The Red Cross collects blood nearly every day of the year through voluntary donations in the Western New York area. Lia participated in the ARC Blood Challenge on Jan 2 – 5 competing against other Capital Region companies. Additionally, Lia donates each year to the Fire and Ice Gala, that supports their lifesaving mission, whether responding to home fires, preparing for ice storms, supporting local veterans, or collecting lifesaving blood, the Red Cross is there when it's needed most. Lia donated $5,000 towards the Fire & Ice Gala. 

Baystate Children’s Hospital – WMAS Radiothon 

As part of their commitment to giving back to the community, Lia Toyota is also excited to announce their donation of $15,000 to Baystate Children's Hospital for the 7th consecutive year.  A check presentation is scheduled for Tuesday January 16th 12:30pm at Lia Toyota located at 2145 Boston Road in Wilbraham.    The money donated will go towards the 23rd Annual WMAS Radiothon to benefit Baystate Children’s Hospital, which takes place on March 5th and 6th.   “We love our partnership with Baystate Hospital, we look forward to the Radiothon and take pride in supporting this amazing organization each year not only with a donation but with our time as we have volunteers who participate as well.  It’s an important part of our company’s mission and vision to get involved and stay involved in the community, said Michael Lia, Co-Owner, Lia Auto Group. "We are thrilled to welcome the community to our newly renovated dealership and share our commitment to providing exceptional service and support," said Riley Campbell, General Manager at Lia Toyota “Our partnership with Baystate Children's Hospital is a testament to our dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of children in need."  Baystate Children’s Hospital is an outstanding medical facility already; however, a $15,000 donation will go a long way to make it even greater!  In fact, about 50% of local pediatricians are trained at Baystate Children’s Hospital.   

 

Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center 

The Albany Med Health System is the largest and only regionally governed, not-for-profit health system in northeastern New York and western New England. Patients have access to community-based care from physicians they know and trust and easy access to the highly specialized services of the region’s only academic medical center.  Their mission:  committed to improving health by attaining the highest standard of quality in care delivery, education, and research initiatives. Their vision: To best serve the needs of our communities, the Albany Med Health System will deliver its mission by means of a structure that will be, and remain, autonomous and self-governing. The Lia Auto Group is a proud sponsor of this years Radiothon taking place on May 2-3 at Albany Medical Center with a donation of $6,000 and fundraising efforts through a car care special promotion.  

 

Bridges Rockland Independent Living Center 

Bridges is a community based, cross disability, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the advocacy for people with disabilities. They provide peer counseling, independent living skills training, transition support and more. Lia Toyota of Rockland is donating $15,000 to the organization and it’s going towards their Accessible Veteran’s Transportation Program and their new Sensory Room Project. 

 

Capital Region Chamber 

The Chamber works across geographic and political boundaries and is known for its thriving economy and vibrant sense of place. Their mission is to be a unifying force for progress, leading opportunities for businesses to succeed, and for people and our communities to prosper. Lia continues to support the Capital Region Chamber with our annual sponsorship fee of $8,595. 

 

Center for Disability Services 

The Center for Disability Services provides psychological assessments to aide in OPWDD eligibility determination. Areas that are evaluated are intellectual ability, adaptive behavior, and autism spectrum disorders. Lia Auto Group is once again a sponsor of the Siro’s Cup with a contribution of  $3,850. 

 

Sisters of St Joseph of Carondelet 

The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet are a congregation of Catholic sisters. They bring loving unity to a divided world. Urgent needs call us to bold conversation and prophetic action. They educate, advocate and take action to promote social justice. Lia will once again sponsor the Sisters at the Gold Level sponsorship which includes a $2,500 donation and Hole in One vehicle. 

 

Chicopee Police 

The Police Unity Tour is a 320-mile bicycle ride from New Jersey to the Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C. Starting on May 9th, 2024, and finishing on May 12th, 2024. The primary purpose of this ride is to raise awareness of Law Enforcement Officers who have died in the line of duty. The secondary purpose is to raise funds for the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial and Museum. Police cyclists from across the country come together to ride in honor of our fallen heroes. Lia donated $2,500 towards this cause. 

 

CM Fox Charities 

Each year, our real estate agents in Guilderland, Colonie, Latham and throughout the Capital Region come together to host the CM Fox Charity Golf Tournament at the Albany Country Club, Voorheesville, NY. 100% of the proceeds from the annual event goes to support local charitable organizations, businesses and families. Since 2012, the CM Fox Golf Tournament has raised more than $130,000 for various organizations in the community. They rely on support from donors like you to make this event possible, and are always excepting raffles items and monetary donations for the event.  This year Lia is once again the Elite sponsor with a donation of $2,500 and HIO vehicle. 

Epilepsy Foundation of NENY 

The mission of the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York, Inc. is to lead the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy and to accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures, and save lives. The Foundation serves 22 counties including the Capital Region, the North Country, and the Upper Hudson Valley. Their vision is to Improve the quality of life and end stigma for people affected by epilepsy in Northeastern New York. This year Lia is sponsoring the Confections of Chocolate event again as the Hope Sponsor at $2,500, as well as donating a variety of auction items.   

 

Folds of Honor 

Since 2007, the Folds of Honor has carried forth this singular, noble mission. To provide educational scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service-members. Their motto says it best: Honor Their Sacrifice.  Educate Their Legacy. Lia over the years has supported this organization through various events.  This year Lia is the $3,000 level Gold Sponsor of the Patriot golf Class, plus providing 3 HIO vehicles and buying 2 foursomes. 

 

Hammy Rel13f Fund 

The 4th Annual Hammy Rel13f Fund Golf Championship Benefiting the Cure Alzheimer's Fund in Memory of Nicola Melillo will be held on October 6, 2024. Lia is a proud sponsor once again this year as the Towel Sponsor and a foursome, providing $4,500 towards Alzheimer’s research  

Jack Falvo Association 

The goal of Jack's Place is to provide a "home" for the families of out of town patients of Ellis Medicine and Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital while their loved ones are rehabilitating. Lia purchased a foursome for the golf tournament held 8/16 which provided $2500 towards the Foundation. 

 

Junior Achievement of Northeastern NY 

Junior Achievement USA is the nation's largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices. The programs in the core content areas of work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy ignite the spark in young people to experience and realize the opportunities and realities of work and life in the 21st century. Junior Achievement's purpose is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. This year Lia is the Presenting Sponsor at $10,000, honoring the late William Lia, Sr and inducting him into the Capital Region Business Hall of Fame. 

 

Kevin’s Guest House 

Kevin Guest House is America’s first independent healthcare hospitality house. For 50 years, they’ve been providing a comfortable and supportive home away from home for patients and families traveling to receive state of the art healthcare in Buffalo. Founded in 1972 by Cyril & Claudia Garvey of Sharon, PA in honor of their son Kevin who sadly lost his battle with leukemia, KGH is the inspiration for the first Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia, PA and more than 600 similar houses across the country and worldwide. More than 60,000 guests have stayed at KGH since its inception, mostly originating from WNY and the Southern Tier, but also including guests from 49 states, Canada, and 11 other countries. Patients and their families are welcome regardless of age, medical condition, or healthcare provider. This is Lia’s second year of sponsorship at the Gold Level for $3,000. 

 

Kids in Need Foundation 

This organization empowers under-resourced teachers and learners. Various programs and initiatives are available that can make a difference in their lives. School supplies and resources matter because they represent belonging and ownership of a student's education and a teacher's career. They empower underestimated students to recognize that they have choices and to make choices for themselves and their futures. For teachers facing rooms full of students struggling to break the cycle of poverty, supplies level the playing field so all students are prepared to learn when the bell rings. Toyota has partnered with this foundation and kicks off their 3rd year of the Toyota Big Summer Giveback promotion.  All Lia Toyota dealerships became a Silver Sponsor at $2,500 per dealership. 

 

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) 

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest nonprofit health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. Since 1949, they’ve invested nearly $1.7 billion in groundbreaking research, pioneering many of today’s most innovative approaches. They work tirelessly to find cures and ensure patients can access the lifesaving treatments they need. When someone experiences the fear and uncertainty of a cancer diagnosis, we provide hope, compassion, education and support. And we are making an impact in the cancer community. Lia is sponsoring LLS’ Light the Night Walk once again that takes place October 19th, this year at the $10,000 level; plus additional fundraising that will take place.  

 

Make A Wish Foundation 

Tens of thousands of volunteers, donors and supporters advance the Make-A-Wish® vision to grant the wish of every child diagnosed with a critical illness. In the U.S. and its territories, a wish is granted every 33 minutes. A wish can be that spark that helps these children believe that anything is possible and gives them the strength to fight harder against their illnesses. This one belief guides us and inspires us to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids we serve.  For children diagnosed with critical illnesses, a wish come true can be a crucial turning point in their lives. A wish can be that spark that helps these children believe that anything is possible and gives them the strength to fight harder against their illnesses. This impact is why we are driven to make every one of these wishes come true. This year Lia Honda of Williamsville will participate in the Rock 97 Radiothon and match $4000 to all who donate during the fundraiser! 

 

Proctors Collaborative 

Proctors Collaborative is an alliance of arts organizations with three venues: Universal Preservation Hall in Saratoga, Capital Repertory Theatre in Albany, and Proctors in Schenectady. Lia is proud to be a part of the strong community-based alliance and have committed to another 3 years (2024 – 2026) at $29,000 per year. 

 

Safe Passage 

Safe Passage counselors can help those in need connected to the statewide system of emergency shelters and additional housing resources. Community services include counseling, advocacy, support groups, and legal advice and counsel on Probate and Family Court matters as well as immigration support, offered at their office in Northampton and in locations throughout Hampshire County. They are there to serve survivors of all genders. Services are free and accessible to people with disabilities, and confidential; and are available in English, Spanish, and other languages. Lia is once again a proud supporter of Safe Passage’s Hot Chocolate Run and is sponsoring this year at the $2,500 level. 

Saugerties Athletic Booster Club 

The Saugerties Athletics Booster Club's mission is to improve opportunities for kids and families in need by supporting local sports and the school district. The club was formed to restore modified sports that were cut from the Saugerties Central School District budget and to ensure that all students have equal access to sports. The club's plans include providing equipment, training, uniforms, and better facilities. Lia is donating $5,000 to the Club and holding a check presentation during the month of August.   

 

Shriners Children’s New England 

Since opening their first hospital in 1922, Shriners has been devoted to providing high-quality specialty medical care to the children and families who come to them, regardless of their ability to pay or insurance status. A century later, their commitment hasn’t changed — only expanded. 

They’re three-part mission has one goal: to change and improve lives. They do this by caring for their patients, conducting research to gain knowledge and develop new treatments, and providing educational opportunities for physicians and other healthcare professionals. Lia is once again proud to sponsor the Cheers for Children event and this year with a $10,000 commitment.  

 

Signal 30 Fund 

The purpose of the Signal 30 Benefit Fund is to support the uniformed members of the NYS Police and their families in extraordinary circumstances such as line of duty deaths, illness, injury, and loss. A Signal 30 is a Trooper's radio call for help.  Lia Toyota of Rockland is sponsoring the 12th Anniversary Awards dinner at the $5,000 Purple Sponsor level. 

 

Siena College 

Siena College is a learning community advancing the ideals of a liberal arts education, rooted in its identity as a Franciscan and Catholic institution. Lia is a long-term supporter of the school, sponsoring Siena Men’s Basketball. Our most recent contract is for $25,000 per year for 2 years. Additionally, we support the Saints Alive! Men’s Basketball Shoot at the $2,500 level.   

 

Strong Young Minds 

Lia once again is proud to be the Gold Sponsor of Strong Young Minds, “I am me Fashion Show” at $5,000. Strong Young Mind’s mission is to inspire inner city youth to pursue their dreams by organizing events that provide resources, highlight diversity, culture, and unity, while also hosting programs that build their self-esteem and financial awareness. They were founded in 2010 by a group of peers who wanted to make a positive impact on their community. The fashion show was created to show every child they could be a model and they possess the strength within them to be just like the people they idealize. The 12-week program offers classes on modeling, etiquette, posture, self-love, and community involvement. This program encourages them and supports them through their fears. Their final test is a huge fashion show where they walk alone down a 50-foot runway. 

 

Town of Enfield 

Each year the Town of Enfield, CT provides the community with a 4th of July Celebration run by volunteers. The mission of the Celebration is to provide the residents of Enfield CT and the surrounding communities with a three-.day Fourth of July Celebration at no charge.  It includes music, parade, races, demonstrations, kids rides and games and much more. Lia once again sponsoring the Town of Enfield’s Fourth of July Celebration as the Auto Dealer Patriot Sponsor at $5,000.  Lia has vehicles on display and distributes marketing swag at the event.  It’s an event the entire community supports and looks forward to each year.
