Here at Lia, we take fall festivities very seriously. We asked and you answered. Thus, the hunt for the ultimate cider donut in the Capital Region commenced! Keep reading to find out who took the top spots! 

We visited the top 5 locations recommended by our followers to try them for ourselves and pick the best out of the bunch. We ate and we ate and we ate and... we judged. We took cider donuts so seriously that we even created a scorecard to make judging fair and square. Our judging expertise was based off of the following categories;

After much debate and serious research *drum roll please* the results are in! 

#1. Indian Ladder Farms: 342 Altamont Rd, Altamont, NY 12009

Taking the cake is (or should I say donut) is Indian Ladder Farms in Altamont! 

Where do we start with this star of a donut? Indian Ladder Farms cider donut ranked the highest in all of our scorecard categories. This was a picture perfect donut from color to shape. A golden brown, perfectly circular with equal amounts of cinnamon and sugar. These donuts came out fresh and warm from the oven making the aroma of not only the donut but also the cafe irresistible! The exterior was perfectly baked with a light crunch for some texture and the inside, light and fluffy. The flavor was out of this world! All over this cider donut ranked with a 27.5 average amongst the Lia Group! 

Indian Ladder Farms (ILF) is an upstate NY family-owned century farm. The farm is home to over 300 acres of apple orchard, berry patches, pumpkin fields and animal pasture. They  pride themselves on providing a space for the community to establish a connection between the food on their plates and the land.

#2. Fo’Castle Farm Country Store: 166 Kingsley Rd, Burnt Hills, NY 12027

Coming in at a close second is Fo’Castle Farm Country Store in Burnt Hills!

Fo’Castle Farm Country Stores cider donut gave us a run for our money and put up a fight against the number one spot, Indian Ladder. Losing only because of the luscious aroma wafting from the ILF donuts, Fo’Castles cider donuts came in with a 25.5 average on our Lia Group scorecards! 

Fo'Castle Farm has been a family tradition in Burnt Hills since 1908. Be drawn back to a bygone era as you enter their charming Country Store. Browse a wide variety of unique gifts. Their bakery is full of pies, artisan breads, cookies, and other treats.

#3. Devoe’s Rainbow Orchard: 1569 U.S. 9, Clifton Park, NY 12065

And last but certainly not least is Devoe’s Rainbow Orchard in Clifton Park! 

Another great cider donut, Devoe’s doesn’t mess around. With perfect scores all across the board for its beautifully symmetrical and ideal appearance, the group average for this cider donut came to a 18.25 on our Lia Group scorecards! If you’re a fan of nutmeg, this may be the donut for you!

Devoe’s is a family-owned apple orchard and country store in Halfmoon, NY. Their country store is open year round where you can visit their bakery, browse a wonderful selection of local products as well as their own produce and gather great gift ideas like custom designed fruit and gift baskets.
