You'll find new features both inside and out of the updated Volkswagen Arteon with a fresh body design, redesigned interior, and new high-tech systems the refreshed 2021 Volkswagen Arteon. Even though the first Arteon went on sale in the U.S. last April, the sedan has been on sale in Europe since 2017 so therefore Volkswagen decided it's due for a mid-cycle refresh! We're here to introduce you to the updated Volkswagen Arteon and give you a glimpse of what to expect! Here is what we know.
Enjoy The Ride
The Arteon continues to be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged and direct-injection TSI engine producing 268 horsepower. Trim levels offered for the Arteon are the SE, SEL, R-Line and SEL Premium R-Line. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission which comes standard across all trim levels.
- SE: standard front-wheel drive
- SEL R-Line: front-wheel drive with the option to add 4MOTION® all-wheel drive
- SEL Premium R-Line: standard all-wheel drive
The EPA nor Volkswagen have yet to announce fuel-economy ratings for the 2021 Arteon. However expected estimates aren't far off from the previous model year which had been rated at 22 city and 29 highway.
More Safety For The Road Ahead
Volkswagen is delivering more safety features in the 2021 Arteon to give you peace of mind. All trim levels of the new and improved Arteon come standard with; Blind Spot Detection, Rear-Traffic Alert and available adaptive cruise control. Starting on the SEL R-Line, Lane Assist lane departure mitigation comes standard. Volkswagen offers a limited warranty and maintenance coverage which includes;
- Limited warranty: 4 years or 50,000 miles
- Powertrain warranty: 4 years or 50,000 miles
- Complimentary maintenance: 2 years or 20,000 miles
Exterior
Volkswagen has added a light bar to it's grill which surrounds their new logo to create a signature look day and night! If you're looking for a flashier style, three new available colors have been added to the line-up including; Oryx White, Kings Red Metallic and Lapiz Blue. Depending on the trim level, the Arteon comes standard with 18-, 19-, or 20-inch wheels. Shooting for a more sportier look? The SEL and SEL Premium trims now come standard with the R-Line appearance package equipping the 2021 Arteon with 20" alloy wheels, R-Line bumpers with high-gloss black accents and a few extra trim pieces.
Interior
Technology upgrades can also be found inside the Arteon. The new generation of multifunction steering wheels features digital touch surfaces. How about that center dash? It includes touch sensitive climate controls for the optional three-zone Climatronic® to replace previous buttons and knobs. The digital cockpit now comes standard across all trims along with an 8-inch media touchscreen which has been updated with the latest VW software with the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Everything from the steering wheel to the air vents have been redesigned. Volkswagen's interior design has a complete makeover reworking the dashboard, center console, and door trims. Say goodbye to those hard plastics and rubberized materials that once made up the previous editions dash. Say hello to new upgraded fabrics and leatherette surfaces with premium stitching. Available 30-color ambient lighting give the interior a special touch.
The Arteon also offers the first high-end available in the Volkswagen lineup with a sound system designed by the audio specialists, Harman Kardon. The system comes with pre-configured settings to set the mood (Pure, Chill Out, Live, and Energy) or can also be tuned to your individual preferences.
Refreshed To The Max
While pricing has yet to be released, prices aren't expected to be a lot more than the previous year. The refreshed Volkswagen Arteon is expected to hit dealerships November 2020.
