Lia Auto Group Donates $11,500 to American Cancer Society
November 13 2019 - doadmin

Established in 1913, the American Cancer Society (ACS) is a nationwide voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer. The Lia Auto Group has been a long-time supporter of the ACS and is proud to continue backing their outstanding efforts to rid the world of this horrible disease. With support from generous contributions, the American Cancer Society is the largest, non-profit funder of cancer research in the United States. Since 1946, they have donated more than $4,000,000,000 to cancer research. This has brought us to a place in time when more people are surviving cancer than ever before. Thanks in part to putting findings from their research into action, since the early 1990s there has been more than a twenty percent decline in cancer death rates in the United States. In fact, since 1991 these rates have been steadily dropping at a rate of about 1.5 % a year. Recently, the Lia Auto Group sponsored three events for the American Cancer Society - The Gala of Hope on May 18th and The Red White and Blue Party on June 28th. The Lia Auto Group was also honored to be a sponsor for the Relay for Life on June 14th as well as Coaches Versus Cancer on October 7, 2019.

The Gala of Hope

After raising $450,000 for the American Cancer Society, the Lia Auto Group along with hundreds of other business owners and community leaders, gathered at the Hall of Springs in Saratoga on Saturday, May 18, 2019, to honor Anthony R. Ianniello for his contributions to the American Cancer Society. Ianniello, a prominent area attorney, has long been a local leader in the ongoing fight against cancer. Anthony actively raises cancer awareness and funds for the ACS through community volunteerism, special events, and corporate support. At this year’s event, he was awarded the Beacon of Hope Award for his generosity, direction, and influence to the cause. The American Cancer Society's Beacon of Hope Award honors a remarkable person or organization who demonstrates outstanding commitment and leadership in the battle against the relentless disease. This is the fifteenth year they have awarded the Beacon of Hope.

Red, White and Blue Party

The American Cancer Society held its 4th Annual Red, White and Blue Party at the Saratoga National Golf Club on Jun 28th, 2019. This All-American themed event is put on each year to honor an individual for their passion and commitment to raising cancer awareness.  Over 500 local community leaders and professionals came out to honor this year's honoree was Pier-Luca Bruno. The night also featured a barbecue provided by Mazzone Hospitality, live music from Funk Evolution. It was all topped off with an amazing fireworks show.

Albany Relay for Life 2019

This year's local Relay For Life was held on June 14th. The Relay for Life is the signature fundraiser cancer walk for the American Cancer Society. It is staffed and coordinated by volunteers in more than 5,200 communities and 20 countries who give of their time and effort because they believe it's time to take action against cancer.
