The 2022 Santa Cruz breaks new ground within the SUV, Truck and Crossover segments by offering a true Sport Adventure Vehicle unlike anything else in the U.S. market. It combines the flexibility of an open truck bed and the comfort of an SUV so you can easily load it up with gear and get to your next adventure.
The highly-anticipated Santa Cruz Sport Adventure Vehicle Shatters Both SUV and Truck Segments, Creating an Entirely New Vehicle Category
The concept vehicle for the 2022 Santa Cruz was first revealed at the 2015 Detroit auto show. That concept has now become a reality and will start production at the Hyundai factory in Montgomery, Alabama in June! This class of pickup trucks is more varied than other segments because of their configuration. With that being said, the starting MSRP for the Santa Cruz is estimated to be in the mid-$20,000's and will be available in four different trim levels; SE, SEL,SEL Premium, Limited. Two different power-train options come available for the Santa Cruz. The standard setup is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that should make more than 190 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. The upgraded engine is a turbocharged 2.5-liter four with more than 275 horses and 310 pound-feet. All-wheel drive is also offered with both four-cylinders. The Santa Cruz is shorter and lower than its segment rivals which, in theory, means it should be easier to maneuver. Hyundai also says its mid-size pickup is available with 18- or 20-inch wheels.
Interior
The cockpit is nearly identical to that of the 2022 Tucson. Up front, it's exactly the same, with a distinct band running along the tops of the doors and dashboard hiding the air vents and bisected by the infotainment system. The standard screen is 8.0 inches and comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, but buyers can upgrade to a 10.25-inch display. Similarly, the standard gauges are analog dials, but a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster is available. Also standard are the usual array of USB ports and even a wireless phone charger. Higher trim levels get niceties like heated and cooled seats, a heated steering wheel, and a Bose stereo.
Safety & Warranty
The Santa Cruz offers an array of driver-assistance technology being based on the Tucson as well. A whole roster of active and passive safety systems are standard, including lane keeping assistance with lane centering capability, forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking, and automatic high-beams. Optional safety features include blind-spot cameras, blind-spot collision avoidance, a 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control, the ability to use your phone as your key, and more. Hyundai now also offers complimentary scheduled maintenance which includes;
- Limited warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles.
- Powertrain warranty covers 10 years or 100,000 miles
- Complimentary maintenance is covered for three years or 36,000 miles
