6 Reasons to Drive the All-New 2022 INFINITI QX55
November 23 2020 - Nathan Rodriguez

INFINITI recently revealed the all-new QX55 crossover debuting its long-anticipated return to the crossover coupe segment. its long-anticipated return to the crossover coupe segment. Specific amenities for each of these grades will be announced closer to the release date, but let’s dive into some of the main highlights of this all-new model!

Style to Steal the Spotlight

The all-new INFINITI QX55 features a bold, sport-inspired interior design that hits all the right notes, blending luxury, performance and trendsetting style in equal measure. The coupe-like silhouette of this SUV showcases this SUV’s elegant flowing lines and 20” wheels that exude strength. Going to the rear of the vehicle, you’ll see digital “piano key” taillights that house 45 separate LEDs inside each unit and an INFINITI tailgate logo, which is where the power liftgate release is located to make loading & unloading cargo a breeze. The interior of the INFINITI QX55 offers leatherette, leather & semi-aniline leather seating options, all of which are designed for extra comfort for up to 5 passengers. The 2nd row provides the capability to slide to give rear passengers additional legroom or the flexible cargo stowing capability you’re looking for when bringing everything you want along for the ride. Because the QX55's roof really isn't all that sloped, passenger space isn't as compromised as with other crossover-coupes.

Redefined Performance

Every QX55 is by Infiniti's turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 268 hp at 5,600 rpm and 280 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm. A continuously variable automatic transmission sends that grunt to all four wheels by way of the crossover's standard all-wheel-drive system. Even though it isn't a dedicated off-road machine, the QX55 features 8.6 inches of ground clearance—more than enough to saunter down the occasional dirt road. The QX55 also comes standard with all-wheel drive.

While the EPA has yet to release fuel-efficiency estimates for the QX55, we can expect figures close to INFINITI's Q50 coming in with 22 City / 28 Highway / 25 Combined mpg rating.

Line-Up

Although Infiniti hasn't yet released pricing or an official run-down of the QX55's standard and optional features, we know that it will be offered in three trims: base Luxe, midrange Essential, and loaded Sensory. We expect the Essential trim to likely be the best value by offering popular tech and luxury features at a reasonable price. Pure serves as the base trim and misses out on comfort options such as a power tilt and telescoping steering column, a motion-activated tailgate, cooled front seats, and three-zone automatic climate control. Step up to the Luxe trim and those niceties, along with Infiniti's ProPilot Assist driver-assist system and a head-up display, hit the features list as either standard or optional kit. Luxe models come with all the trimming. While pricing still remains under wraps we expect for the QX55 to start right around the $39,000 for the base Luxe model with the fully loaded Sensory coming in around $51,000.
